Most countries in the world have specific unique local needs of the business and legal requirements. Oracle applications are being used in over 140 countries, and to address some of these local business and legal requirements, Oracle has added a new 11i functionality and system parameter called Localizations.
Oracle Applications are designed to support the business and legal requirements in the U.S.. In some other countries, the local Oracle office has developed and supports the location, therefore, the location is applied to the country for which it was originally created.
Brazil is a country that has localization of Oracle support. This country has many different legal requirements, and that Oracle has created? Brazil's location? to support those. Additional configuration in some functional module is necessary (the billing of GL, FA, RP, OM, INV, CE, AP, AR, CAP) and there is a new module called RI (reception integrated) barely used in Brazilian implemented. To get an idea, there are nearly 300 variations of process required or affected by the Brazilian location.
When planning any overall development of the functionality of Oracle, to support the planning effort to install a particular location for Oracle applications, we recommend at least one high-level assessment of business operations.
