Oracle E-Business Suite: XML Publisher – Overview for Consultant

Oracle Reports, E-Commerce Room Oracle Oracle applications, Oracle XML Publisher

In 2004, Oracle has delivered a new tool for developing reports on Oracle applications. He was appointed editor of Oracle XML and is available within the technology stack of e-commerce room (sometimes also called the Oracle financier0es).

Most companies that use Oracle applications as its ERP system has a long list of subject reports to be built. Oracle has provided this tool to help organizations in this issue. Using this tool, users can create a template of the provisions of the reports using a familiar desktop tools such as MS Word and Adobe Acrobat or instead of creating a user can just enter a template as a form of pdf of the government. The data are still handled by electronic trading room, but now users can design and control how the report outputs will be presented using a familiar desktop application.

The classic approach to creating reports was to combine 3 components: logic, layout and translation of data into a single file which makes it very inflexible. Even a simple change in the provision of a report, a new report file must be generated with all components. With this new product, just a minor change in the template file is needed. The table below shows how they treat the three components are separated by the XML editor in design time and at runtime that are brought back together by XML Publisher to generate the final formatted output.
The XML editor allows the user to choose the output format of the report. The most common formats are PDF, RTF, HTML, Excel, XML, EDI and EFT. This tool also has a delivery service where users can choose what they want to do with the report. Using this service, you can send the output directly to an email address, a printer, a fax or a WebDAV server.

This is a powerful tool for building reports, the only thing I'm wondering is how to fit in with Oracle's existing tool for information. Are you going to replace Oracle Reports? In the statement of addresses that Oracle does not say that, so probably we will have to wait a little longer to get that answer, probably the market.
