There are two ways to set up a company: By setting up a company manually or by importing
your data from QuickBooks® or Microsoft Money. This training article
covers importing your data from QuickBooks.
Importing data from QuickBooks®
Microsoft Office Accounting 2007 (both Express and Professional) allows you to import
data from your existing accounting application if you are using Intuit QuickBooks
or Microsoft Money.
The import from QuickBooks or Money will create a new company file, so in order
to start the import process you will have to close any open companies and select
to import data from the Office Accounting start page
Start page in Microsoft Office Accounting
2007
If you are using Office Accounting Express, you will see the following warning:
Upgrade now warning
What this means is that Office Accounting will import all your QuickBooks data, but if you are using the Express version, there are limitations to the functionality of Office Accounting as follows:
- Jobs. All jobs are imported, but you won’t be able to use jobs in Office Accounting Express.
- Classes. All classes are imported, but you won’t be able to use classes in Office Accounting Express.
- Inventory Items. All inventory items are imported, and you can continue selling and purchasing them, but you won’t be able to create new inventory items or adjust your inventory in Office Accounting Express.
- Kits. All kits items are imported, and you can continue selling and purchasing them, but you won’t be able to create new kits in Office Accounting Express.
If you are not using jobs, classes, inventory items or kits, press No to continue. If you are using this functionality, press Yes to upgrade to Office Accounting Professional.
